BCS Alumni Family Association

The BCS Alumni Family Association aims to foster a vibrant community of alumni families and friends of Bullis Charter School.  The various programs are organized to serve families that do not have current BCS students, rather than individual graduating students with continuing siblings at BCS.

Letter to 2008-2009 Graduating Families

The Foundation is working to establish an Alumni and Friends Program for families that do not have current students at BCS. It is an important goal to try to build a strong program that keeps graduating families socially connected to our BCS community.

We therefore are rolling out two different offerings with the hope that almost every alumni family will find one of them appropriate for their circumstances. The first offering is the Alumni and Friends Program and the second is the Leadership Circle Alumni and Friends Program. Should you wish to join either you may drop your donation in the Foundation box in the BCS office or mail it to BPESF C/O Bullis Charter School at the school address.

The Alumni and Friends Program is designed to keep as many alumni families as possible connected with each other and the BCS community. A modest annual donation of $60 will be required for membership to help cover operating costs.

Each family that joins will be listed in a new alumni section of the Bullis Directory, receive a free copy of the Directory, be entitled to have news updates about their family or Bullis graduates posted on the Alumni and Friends Member News page, and receive periodic email updates on events they are invited to attend and other items of interest.

The Leadership Circle Alumni and Friends Program is for those extremely generous graduating families without current BCS students that are willing and able to make a donation for the coming school year of $2,000 or above. Such families will receive all the benefits of the basic program as well as the special benefits discussed below. Leadership Alumni and Friends donations can be made in honor of the BCS Staff or a specific staff member. Such a donation is a wonderful way to send a clear message of appreciation for all they have done for your family. The Foundation will send a card to the Staff or staff member announcing your special gift.

Leadership Alumni and Friends donations will go to the BCS Endowment Fund and thereby provide long term financial support for our school. Leadership Alumni and Friends donors will be prominently listed on the Endowment section of the Foundation website. In addition, graduating families that make a Leadership Alumni and Friends donation by December 1, 2009 will receive two complimentary tickets to next year's BCS Auction event! And remember, if you are eligible for an employer match, any matching funds received will count towards the Leadership level!

We are working on other benefits for Alumni and Friends members, such as a teacher event for alumni students, a BCS parent speaking series that Leadership Alumni and Friends families could attend at no additional cost, and a discount on certain popular Auction subscription parties for Leadership Alumni and Friends families.

As this is a new program, we are very anxious to hear what our families would find most appealing. If you would like to get involved in helping us design the program, we would love to hear from you! Please visit http://sites.google.com/a/bcsfoundation.com/public/Home/bcs-alumni-association to learn of any changes to our Alumni and Friends program as it is rolled out. I would of course be very happy to personally answer any questions you may have about this new program.

Thank you for being an important part of the BCS Community! I do hope you will all choose to stay connected to the wonderful school you helped nurture through its infancy!

Sincerely,
David Jaques
