Drive-In Movie Night

Saturday, October 17th

West Wind Capitol Drive-in Theater
3630 Hillcap Ave San Jose

Tickets: $85 / family

7:00 Lego Batman / 9:15 Jumanji 2 - The Next Level

It’s a Double Feature: Come for both movies, or just one, to suit your family’s needs. Your ticket price includes one car for both movies and a goody bag of snacks and drinks. Kids are encouraged to wear their pajamas and bring blankets and pillows for extra comfort in your car. SUVs or trucks can park backwards, open their tailgate and watch the movie from the bed of their car.

What time should I arrive?

The first movie, Lego Batman, starts 7pm sharp! Get there early if you want to purchase extra snacks from the theater’s concession stands. Plan to arrive no later than 6:45 PM for the first movie.  You can arrive as early as 5:45 PM.

The 2nd movie, Jumanji 2 - The Next Level, starts once the first movie ends, around 9:15pm. Plan to arrive around 9pm if you are only coming for the 2nd movie.

Can my family come in 2 cars?  How many people are allowed per car?

Your ticket purchase is good for one car. You may have as many people in your car as you have seatbelts.

Are there any COVID-19 Restrictions?

Masks required anytime you are out of the car. Their playground is currently closed. Their public concession stand is now a take away model. They are limiting the number of people in the bathroom at one time and disinfecting every 30 minutes. You can still watch outside of your car but must be on a lawn chair.

Can I watch the movie from outside my car?

You are welcome to watch the movie outside of your car as long as you sit in front of your car or behind your car like in a pickup tailgate and you will need a lawn chair because blankets and sitting directly on the ground are not allowed. You will need a face mask when outside the car, and probably a jacket. You might want to bring a portable boombox if you are watching from outside the car.

SUVs or trucks can park backwards, open their tailgate and watch the movie from the bed of their car.

How do I hear the movie?

The theater’s audio is quality FM stereo sound that is tuned directly through your car’s FM stereo! Turn your key to accessory mode to keep your stereo on. If you don’t have an FM stereo or want to sit outside of your car on a lawn chair, bring a portable boombox.

Will there be snacks?

We will be handing out goodie bags to your car when you arrive with a variety of individually packaged snacks and drinks, including popcorn, chips, oreos, candy, fruit snacks, juice, and water. You are permitted to bring your own food and drink from home. Additional food and drinks are available to purchase from the theater’s public concession stand which has a full menu including Orville Redenbacher popcorn, super nachos, hamburgers, hotdogs, pizza, packaged candy and bottled Pepsi products and accept Visa or Mastercard or cash. They also have a Ready Pay option via your phone to avoid going inside the concession area to pay. There is no ATM on property.

How long is each movie and what are they rated?

Lego Batman’s run time is 1 hour, 45 minutes and is PG and Jumanji 2 is 2 hours, 3 minutes and is PG-13.

Is there an intermission between movies?

Yes, there will be approximately a 15 minute intermission between the movies to allow for bathroom breaks, a run to the concession stand, to stretch your legs, and for cars to leave or come.

Are there bathroom facilities?

Yes, bathrooms are open and there is an employee at the door, limiting the number of people at a time. Face masks must be worn anytime outside of the car.  They are cleaned every 30 minutes.

Is the event happening in inclement weather?

Yes, the event will happen rain or shine!

Will my car battery die during the event if I am playing the sound from my car radio?

Most cars will not have a battery issue. If you are concerned we recommend turning your car on a few times during the movie. The theater offers a free jumpstart in the unlikely event your car battery runs out.

What is not allowed at the event?

The drive in theater does not allow firearms, weapons of any kind, drugs, alcoholic beverages or pets..

Can we bring our pets?

We love pets too but unfortunately they are not allowed at the event. Of course service dogs are always welcome.

Bring blankets, pillows, or other items to make it comfortable in your car during the movie.

If you plan to watch the movie outside of your car, you will need a lawn chair (blankets and sitting directly on the ground are not allowed during COVID-19), a face mask, and will probably need a jacket.
