Bullis-Purissima Elementary School Foundation - The Fundraising Organization for BCS

"Existing public schools are not sufficiently preparing our students for the new demands of higher education and the global marketplace.
Bullis Charter School has the potential to become the model of next-generation learning."
     — Gordon Moore, Co-Founder, Intel and Bullis Charter School Founding Partner.

Bullis Charter School is a public elementary school providing an innovative and enriched educational experience in a small school environment.  With your generous donations, The Bullis-Purissima Elementary School Foundation ("BPESF") funds more than 1/3 of the BCS operating budget.  More than 75% of the BCS operating budget is spent on compensation and benefits to attract and retain our high quality staff!

We are a 501(c)(3) public charity and donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law. Our tax identification number is 48-1298690.

Please make checks payable to Bullis-Purissima Elementary School Foundation or "BPESF".  Donations may be deposited in the Foundation donation box in the Bullis Charter School office or mailed to:

2009-2010 DONATION LEVELS FOR BCS FAMILIES

Bullis Charter School ("BCS") is a public school that charges no tuition but receives only limited public funding for its high quality program.  Unfortunately, Los Altos School District does not currently share any portion of local parcel tax revenues with BCS.  As State funding fails to keep pace with education costs, parcel tax funds have become increasingly important, providing almost 20% of LASD revenues.

This year the "gap" between the amount BCS has budgeted per student and the amount we receive in public funding support is approximately $5,000.  The Foundation has committed to provide roughly $1.6 million to the BCS budget for the 2009-2010 school year.  While we are working on developing additional funding sources, our current funding model depends upon our families to fund this gap through tax-deductible donations to the Annual Campaign.  We ask our families to be as generous as possible in supporting our school for all our children!

We understand that for some of our families, a tax deductible donation of $4,000 per student is simply not feasible.  We ask that families openly discuss their situation with a Foundation member as early as possible and donate as much as they are able towards the suggested level, recognizing that other school families will need to make up the difference.  Last year, even with many of our families suffering from the recession, approximately 80% of families gave at the suggested donation level or above.  More than 60 families joined the Leadership Circle!  Such broad participation is what makes our funding model sustainable!

THE FOUNDATION APPRECIATES EACH AND EVERY CONTRIBUTION!

FRIENDS OF BCS --  Anyone Can Join the Leadership Circle!
